KATJA MUTTILAINEN

– EDUCATOR, ARTIST, CURATOR, DESIGNER –

Katja Muttilainen (b. 1975, Varkaus, Finland) is Tampere located lighting specialist. She has a background as a lighting designer and an educator in lighting design.

Since 1998, Muttilainen has designed and implemented numerous lighting designs for theater and contemporary dance. Her educational career started in 2003. In addition to her teaching and artistic work, she currently works also as a light art curator.

In her practice, Muttilainen primarily works with light, lighting, and augmented reality (AR) applications. She has a broad interest in social phenomena, human encounters, and communication.
